Buidlings are as varied as the human personality -- it is fitting that their aspects should be referred to as facades, or faces (windows often thought of as eyes). Whether new or antique; as part of the disappearing landscape; complex maintenance of indispensable assets; or the preservation of loved old friends; the significance of architectural structures implies much more beyond that which meets the eye, not the least of which is the incredible ingenuity and imagination behind, for me, all of it! Many of the facades that I am compelled to portray would be heartily missed if razed! Visiting one's old childhood neighborhood mostly refers the to the stage set by buildings/ structures/ frontage/ aspects/elevations/ exteriors that characterize an era and reawaken the customs & people of a bygone time, existing in memory only; likewise those features often set the atmosphere of a film, painting, etc. ¶ The second and third drawing & watercolor across the top of the images here, built @ 1920, were destroyed and replaced by a cheap-looking pepto-bismol-colored parking structure.
