Figure : Premier Coup

Premier coup, or alla prima, or first strike, all denote paintings done directly from the figure. Usually there is a limited amount of time (i.e. 2 hours), which makes it more of a challenge but also imparts a certain spontaneity of appearance, excitement of brushwork and color, et al. -- the most exhilarating way of working.
